Dr. Norton holds his PhD. in Nutritional Science and is BS in Biochemistry. Norton is a well-respected pro natural bodybuilder, raw elite powerlifter, and physique coach. Dr. Norton currently holds the International Powerlifting Federation  (IPF) and USA Powerlifting (USAPL) national record holder in squat, 668lbs at 93 kg weight class and is the former USAPL national record holder in deadlift at 711lbs. He is the creator and founder of Biolayne LLC Foundation a philanthropic initiative established to award financial assistance to charities supporting people who are pursing advanced degrees in the areas of sports training, nutrition, metabolic health or medicine to be used to advance the science of bodybuilding, powerlifting and strength training.

Marie Cleary

Each month Phoenix Fitness, LLC highlights an athlete we would like to recognize and let our FITcommunity know more about. We would like to recognize Marie Cleary as our April Athlete of the month.

Marie is quite a success story. She has had to pour serious hustle and focus into her training to get to where she is now, and her dedication and commitment to doing things WELL that has earned her the athleticism she currently has. Marie is highly intuitive, and stays mobile and hydrated, and focuses on her nutrition, all which carry over into the big lifts– far more than people realize. She is extremely patient, and never rushes PR’s by breaking technique. Marie is also very intentional with every ancillary exercise, always trying to improve wherever possible. I love that I can yell a cue from across the room during a set, and she can implement instantaneously, she is focused. To say that I am proud of how far she has come is an understatement. Oh, and she has increased her 3-lift total by 58% since she started.”- Coach Royce

currently – bench press.  I feel like I’ve really focused on my technique and it has paid off tremendously in the last year.

What are your short- term fitness goals?  For 2017 my goal is to lean out and compete once again in the 63kg weight class, and successfully complete all 9 lifts (all white lights!)

What are your long ‐term fitness goals?  I’d like to maintain and/or improve my physique by continuing weight training & powerlifting.  Perhaps compete at Nationals in the next few years.

What do you like most about Phoenix Fitness? Coach Royce’s training methods, the sense of community, the friendships I’ve formed, and most of all, the fact that we have fun while we work hard!

What is an interesting fact not many people know about yourself?  My smile & outgoing nature sometimes mask a lot of self-doubt.  I am extremely hard on myself!

Tell us what you do for fun besides working out at Phoenix Fitness:  Horseback riding, spending time with my husband and two awesome boys, and in the summer – anything near the ocean or a lake!

GenZ Power

A class designed for ages 14 to 19, specific to the three main barbell lifts, squat, bench press and deadlift. In this class, participants will receive highly specialized strength training with well known strength Coach Royce. This class will prepare athletes for strength competitions, powerlifting meets, or enhance and improve their lifting capabilities and development as a lifter.

***Participants are expected to have formal coaching on the main lifts prior to taking the class, and must have an understanding of the risks associated with this kind of specialized training.

Better, Faster, Stronger is offered to Youth Boys and Girls, ages 13-18. Strength training, practicing the primary barbell movements with an emphasis on technique and proficiency.

On Saturday, September 3rd, the Deadlift Festival celebrated proper functional movement patterns, promoting proper movement pattern.  A successful event with special guests; USAPL record holder of the 700 pound bench press and former Head coach and strength and conditioning Coach, Northeastern University- Michael “Mike Z” Zawilinski and USAPL and International Powerlifting MC and USAPL referee Geno Biancheri.

Phoenix Fitness Combine held on May 14 , successful fitness event

raised funds for Veterans Count.

– Phoenix Fitness, LLC held their first annual Phoenix Fitness Combine on Saturday, May 14. A community event that highlighted the fitness community and held friendly competitions such as rowing for time, tire flips, farmer’s carries, bench press for reps, three- minute fitness test and much more. Overall trophies were awarded for men’s and women’s divisions and individual metals were awarded for each event. Athletes from 15 to 65 competed in the events.

Phoenix Fitness, LLC also teamed up with Easter Seals -Veteran Count and raised donations from registrations and individual donations.“Our goal was to bring together the community, promote living a healthy lifestyle, showcase strength,endurance with an afternoon of short competitive events and fitness fun.” says Royce L. Claflin,Owner and CEO of Phoenix Fitness, LLC. “It also gave us an opportunity to give back to our community. Veterans Count of Easter Seals, provides resources directly in New Hampshire veterans, service members and their families. We are grateful to all the competitors, our officials and the spectators who attended. We are looking forward to holding this event annually.”
